Scouting

The vineyard scouting app that works in the row, not the office.

Walk a block, tap to capture, attach a photo, and pin the observation to a specific vine. Notes save offline and sync when you're back at the truck. Pest, weed, and disease pressure accumulate into season-long views you can hand to a consulting viticulturist.

How field capture should feel

One tap, gloves on.

  • Offline outbox

Every capture saves to local storage immediately and queues for sync. The app feels instant whether you have signal or not. When connectivity returns, the outbox drains in the background — no "tap again to retry" flow.

  • Pin to vine, row, or block

Pick a specific vine for canopy issues, a row for irrigation anomalies, or a whole block for spray-day observations. Each level has its own filtered history so you can see the pattern at the right resolution.

  • Pest + weed catalogs

Built-in catalogs of common Eastern + West Coast vineyard pests and weeds, with photo references at multiple instars or growth stages. Tap a species, attach the field photo, rate severity.

  • Photos with GPS + EXIF

Photos capture coordinates, timestamp, and device info. They stay attached to the observation forever and are exportable with the rest of the season's records.

  • REI-aware entry

If you try to scout a block under an active re-entry interval, Vinifera warns before you tap. Worker safety enforcement isn't gated by plan tier.

  • Pressure rollup

Per-pest and per-weed pressure trended across the season at the block level. The kind of view that drives spray timing decisions instead of guesswork.

Free covers all of this.

Scouting is on the Free tier. Photo limit is 50; Pro and Business remove the cap and add multi-user access. Combine with spray records for full field history, or weather alerts for pre-emptive decisions.

FAQ — scouting

What growers usually ask.

How offline is "offline-first" really?

Every mutation queues into a persistent outbox and the UI renders the captured row immediately. The drain runs as soon as the device is online. Photos queue too — they upload when bandwidth allows.

Can I add a pest the catalog doesn't have?

Yes. The "Other" entry takes a free-text species name. Email support if you'd like a species added to the built-in catalog — we've added several based on grower requests.

How long do scouting notes stay?

Free tier shows the last 30 days; older notes are hidden (never deleted). Pro and Business have unlimited retention, so a 5-year scouting history stays one tap away.

Can a scout be limited to scouting only?

Yes — the Scout role can record scouting notes but can't see financial data or spray records they didn't author. Roles + permissions are documented in Budget & financials where audit-trail discipline matters most.
