Vinifera started at Newberry Vineyard, the same place every feature still gets tested. The options on the market were consumer-grade phone notes that fell apart at audit time, or enterprise platforms — Climate FieldView and friends — built for thousand-acre row-crop operations and priced like it. A commercial vineyard sits in the middle and deserves software that lives in the row.
Mission
Field-first capture for commercial vineyards.
Every Vinifera feature has the same starting point: what would the operator do, in the row, with gloves on, on a phone, in the sun? If a feature can't be used that way, it's not done. Compliance reports, buyer settlements, and the year-end CPA bundle are downstream of that — not substitutes for it.

No per-seat tax
Most ag platforms charge per user. A vineyard hires seasonal crew — that pricing model punishes the kind of operation we're trying to serve. Vinifera prices per vineyard. Pro includes 3 users with roles; Business is unlimited.

Compliance is not a paywall
Re-entry interval, pre-harvest interval, and harvest blocking are unconditionally on for every plan including Free. Worker safety and label compliance aren't features to upsell — they're table stakes. See spray records for the enforcement mechanics.

Offline-first because cell signal lies
Most working blocks have intermittent signal at best. Every capture flow saves locally first and syncs in the background — no "tap retry" loops, no lost notes because a tower flapped. Documented on the scouting page.

Mobile store, not a payment processor
Subscriptions run through Google Play. We don't run a web checkout, don't take card data, don't operate a second payment surface. One store, one refund flow, one cancellation path.

Tested on a working vineyard
Every release ships through Newberry Vineyard before it leaves the door. If a flow doesn't work with gloves on, in February pruning weather or August spray heat, it gets fixed before it lands in the Play listing.

Field-first, then back-office
The Business budget surface exists because the operational data already lives in the system — extending it into financials was a small step from there. The reverse direction (start with accounting, bolt on field capture) doesn't work.
